American ContainerAmerican Container has been in Plymouth for 52 years and Monday evening they took the first step in seeking another tax abatement for an expansion project.

Mike Isban, President of American Container appeared with Jerry Chavez, Executive Director of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation to discuss the tax abatement request.

Isban said about 4 years ago the city helped American Containers with a tax abatement for an expansion project on printing equipment.   This expansion will finish the automation process of that project.

Needing to increase efficiency, American Container will purchase a press pre-feeder from WSA and automation equipment totaling $533,000.  Building improvements for manufacturing is expected to be $14,500 and the project will create 1 new full time position and allow American Container to retain 62 full-time positions.

The City Council passed a resolution declaring the property to be within an Economic Revitalization Area.  A public hearing will be conducted at the September 25th meeting for the final step in the Tax Abatement process.
