Safe_Meds_DisposalIndiana communities continue to be affected by a widespread opioid epidemic. While illegal drug use is a factor, addiction to prescription medication also contributes to the issue.

Last year, an estimated 18.9 million people misused prescription drugs, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Indiana State Senator Randy Head said, “In order to prevent additional misuse, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management partnered with the Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force to promote safe drug disposal practices in Indiana for expired or unwanted medication.”

Local medication drop off locations in Marshall County include the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 1400 Pioneer Drive, Bremen Police Department at 123 South Center Street and the Culver Police Department at 200 East Washington Street.  These locations are open 24 hours.  The Marshall County Solid Waste District Management at 1900 Walter Glaub Drive in Plymouth only collects non-controlled substances.  You must call for hours at 935-8618.
