Road_ConstructionMayor Mark Senter requested the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety consider a major change at the intersection Baker Street and Columbus Drive near Riverside Intermediate School.

After having MACOG complete a traffic study at the intersection it was determined that a 3-way stop would alleviate the large number of vehicle stacking up on Columbus Drive in the mornings and afternoons.

Mayor Senter also warned that the Safe Routes to School project will begin on Wednesday.  This project will create a new curb, gutter and sidewalk on the north side of Baker Street from Randolph Street to Columbus Drive.

While there were five companies that bid on the project, Northern Indiana Construction from Mishawaka was the low bidder at $306,635.67, under the engineers estimate. The city’s 25% share of the project will be $61,327.13.  The project should be completed by   November 1st
