Bikecrash_NMichigan&Garro_1Thursday morning about 8:30 Plymouth emergency responders were dispatched to the downtown intersection of North Michigan and Garro Streets for an accident between a bicycle and a van.

41 year old Haifa Latif of Plymouth told Officer Bob DeLee that she was riding her bike north in the north bound lane on Michigan Street near the parked cars and didn’t notice the color of the traffic light and ran into the driver’s side of a 2004 Chrysler van driven by 30 year old Erandy Quintana also of Plymouth.

Quintana told Officer DeLee she was driving west on Garro Street on a green light when her van was struck in the side by the bicycle.

A witness at the scene told police the bicyclist disregarded the red light and struck the van in the intersection.

Haifa Latif was transported to Saint Joseph Health Systems in Plymouth with a complaint of pain to the hip and lower back.
