MugShot_James IrwinThe Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office filed formal charges against 68 year old James A. Irwin of Plymouth on Monday.

Irwin has been charged with five counts: Dealing in a Scheduled II Controlled Substance as a level 6 felony; two counts of Promoting Prostitution as a level 5 felonies; Dealing is a Substance represented to be a Controlled Substance as a level 6 felony; and Attempted Promoting Prostitution as a level 5 felony.

Jim Irwin was arrested on Wednesday, August 23rd by the Marshall County Drug Task Force following several months of investigation.  It is alleged that in his position as Director of Care and Share Ministries of Marshall County, Irwin attempted to exchange drugs, motel rooms and money for sexual favors on more than one occasion.

An initial appearance before Judge Robert O. Bowen has yet to be set.

James Irwin remains in the Marshall County Jail on a $60,000 cash bond.
