Starke County_Heroin ArrestOn Thursday, August 10, at 2 pm, a Starke County K9 Officer located a wanted subject turning north onto US 35 from Henry Drive.

The Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the subject fled behind the Liquor Store and then tossed several baggies of narcotics out of the window.

The vehicle finally stopped in the old BK Drive Inn.

Starke County_Heroin Arrest_2The Deputy took the driver, 26 year old John Piper of Knox into custody after confirming the valid warrant thru dispatch.

The passenger in the vehicle, 25 year old Ryan Furlano of Knox was detained and officers located 30 baggies of Heroin during an officer safety pat down.

Starke County_Heroin Arrest_3The Deputy was able to retrieve the 5 baggies of narcotics from the roadway that were thrown out of the vehicle during the pursuit.

John Piper is being charged with Dealing Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Resisting Law Enforcement using a vehicle, Possession of Paraphernalia and Driving While Suspended w/ a Prior.
Mr. Piper also had 2 outstanding Starke County Circuit Warrants. He was held in the Starke County Jail with NO BOND at this time

Ryan Furlano is being charged with Dealing Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Visiting a Common Nuisance, Possession of Paraphernalia. He too is being held in the Starke County Jail with NO BOND at this time.
