On Saturday, August 5, the Starke County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a male subject choking and unable to breath at the corner of Cherokee and Frost Street in Walkerton (Koontz Lake).
When first responders arrived, they found a 15 year old male subject on the kitchen floor choking on his own vomit. It was soon determined that the male subject had overdosed on some type of narcotic.
“Narcan” (Naloxone) was administered and further treatment by Medics was administered. The patient was then transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
This situation is still under investigation by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Starke County EMS, Koontz Lake Fire Department, and Walkerton Police Department.
