school-boardThe Plymouth School Board handled a number of agenda items during their August 1 meeting.

According to Superintendent Andy Hartley, the teacher evaluation plan will be the same as the last school year. He said the model is a modification of IDOE’s RISE Teacher evaluation model.

Teachers who are rated highly effective or effective receive a stipend. The amount is based on the funding from the state level. Teachers are rated highly effective, effective, improvement needed, and ineffective. The evaluation system uses measures of student growth and achievement as a significant portion of a teacher’s evaluation.

Teachers must work 120 days or more to receive a summarize evaluation rating, evolution. Steps include a beginning of the year conference, classroom observations by administrators, and mid-year conference.

The board also voted unanimously to approve a standard form of agreement between the architect for the new high school and renovations to the alternative school. The architect for the project is Barton-Coe-Vilama of Ft. Wayne.

They also approved an agreement with a construction manager, The Skillman Corporation of Merrillville.
