Underground_Railroad_House_1During Monday’s Plymouth Common Council meeting the city attorney presented information on a voluntary annexation.

John and Carey Weir purchased the property at 1715 Lake Avenue with intentions of building a brand new day care facility.  The property is commonly referred to as the Underground Railroad house and sits just to the east of the Saint Joseph Health System.

Hoham_Klinghammer homeThe historic home on the property was built on two lots and the property lines goes right through the middle of the house.  One of the lots is within the city limits while the other one is in the county.

The Weirs want the entire property to be brought into the city so they can have access to city water and sewer.

A petition for the voluntary annexation will be filed next week and the city will conduct a public hearing on the request at their July 24th meeting.
