TritonTroganLogoTriton School Corporation is delighted to announce that they have received a generous scholarship donation from the Charles and Glendora Trust. This most generous gift of $188,611.00 is to be used for post-secondary scholarships to trade training programs.  Triton will begin distributing these scholarships at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

Mrs. Compton set up a trust twenty years ago in honor of her husband on the occasion of his death. Mr. Compton was born and raised in Bourbon on 8th Road.  His wife was from Etna Green.

Mr. Compton wrote a book “I Remember Bourbon” and donated the proceeds from the sale of that book to the Triton Athletic Department because he was such a fan of Triton Athletics.  Mr. Compton had served in the armed forces during WWII and was a part of the “Battle of the Bulge”.  He had a collection of military memorabilia that included his uniform, a German uniform jacket, German helmet, German medals and money.   He gave school presentations about the war with these items.

Mr. Compton’s life spanned September 17, 1924 to September 23, 1994.  Mrs. Compton’s life span was from October11, 1927 to August 4, 1997.  They married in the Bourbon Methodist Church in June 1947.  Charlie belonged to the Bourbon Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Bourbon American Legion. Charlie was a flashy dresser and loved a good cigar.  He also enjoyed his German Shepherd dogs and giving his wife nice jewelry. The couple had no children, but adored their nieces and nephews.

Mr. Compton worked as a salesman for an RV company. He believed every student was not meant for college but thought every child should be able to train for a future career.  It is to this cause that the Compton Trust has donated a most generous $188,611.00 to Triton School Corporation to be used for student scholarships for post-secondary trade training programs.  Donna Burroughs, Superintendent said, “We so appreciate this generous and thoughtful gift which will support the future of the Triton Community.”
