My Approved PortraitsU.S. Senator Joe Donnelly released the following statement after Endo Pharmaceuticals announced it will remove its prescription opioid pain medication, Opana ER, from the market. The announcement came a month after a request from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), marking the first time the FDA took steps to pull an approved opioid pain medication from the market due to the public health consequences of opioid abuse.

Donnelly said, “This is good news. Opana played a significant role in the opioid abuse epidemic and was at the center of the opioid and HIV crisis in Scott County. We are making progress to confront this public health crisis, and it will continue to take everyone working together to stem the tide of the opioid epidemic in Indiana and across the country.”
