MugShot_BOULAS, ANTHONY ROBERTAnthony Boulas, 48, of Argus, was sentenced on June 21, 2017 in Marshall Superior Court No. 1 to 17.5 years imprisonment at the Indiana Department of Correction for two counts of Dealing in Methamphetamine as a Level 2 Felony.  Judge Robert O. Bowen approved an agreement between Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tami Napier and defense attorney Nathan Pearson.

In open court, Boulas admitted that February and March of 2015, Det. Brad Keller, of the Warsaw Police Department Drug Task Force, completed two purchases totaling 33.1 grams of methamphetamine from Anthony Boulas in Argos, Indiana.  Pursuant to evidence obtained from the purchases and subsequent confirmatory lab testing, the substance purchased was indeed methamphetamine.   In exchange for a guilty plea, the State dismissed two possession charges also alleged in this case.

The case began on in February of 2015, when Det. Keller and a confidential informant were contacted by Boulas.  Boulas directed them where to meet him in Argos.  Boulas arrived in both instances with methamphetamine which he sold to the confidential informant.  Both transactions were captured on recording devices as well as the arrangements for the purchase and sale of the drugs.

Prosecuting Attorney Nelson Chipman was pleased with the outstanding work of the police officers involved in the investigation.  Warsaw Police Department Drug Task Force detectives worked in cooperation with Prosecutor Chipman to finalize the charges against Boulas.  Prosecutor Chipman stated that methamphetamine abuse accounts for a significant amount of drug abuse, overdoses and property crimes so it is critically important to uncover and prosecute cases.

“Methamphetamine is a drug that destroys families and communities.  The prosecution of methamphetamine dealing and possession in Marshall County is a priority in my office and will remain so until it is clear to dealers and user that it will simply not be tolerated in our community.”
