Plymouth Police are warning of medical billing scam.
A person in Plymouth contact the police department on Tuesday after receiving a letter in the mail from a lawyer’s office in Oxford Mississippi regarding a pat due bill from a doctor in Spokane, Washington. The letter was mailed from Memphis, Tennessee.
Realizing they had never been to the doctor referenced in the payment request the citizen called police. Officer Steve DeLee conducted an investigation and determined it was a scam.
Plymouth residents are urged to be cautious when receiving phone calls or mail requesting payment. Make sure the request is legitimate before making a payment.
