State Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) and State Senator Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) Friday honored a locally owned family farm for being in operation for more than 150 years.
The Mishler farm, located in Marshall County, was recognized at the Statehouse with a Hoosier Homestead award for 150 years of family farm ownership.
The Mishler farm has been in operation since 1860 and received a sesquicentennial award.
“Indiana agriculture supports over 100,000 jobs and brings in over $30 billion to our economy,” Jordan said. “It’s truly remarkable for a family to operate a farm for 150 years, and I wish the Mishler family continued success for years to come.”
“I want to congratulate these hardworking Hoosiers on their success over the last 150 years,” Mishler said. “Family owned farms like this help keep Indiana’s agriculture industry thriving.”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more.
