Director Ward Byers said the agreement between Bowen Center and Community Corrections will provide services in the jail as part of the jail treatment program.  This agreement is for therapeutic evidence based programming for the target population of level 6 felons and above that a determined to be moderate to high risk.  Byers said, “It’s part of our ongoing collaboration with the Sheriff.”  He indicated that funding for the agreement has already been received through the Jail Treatment grant with the State of Indiana.

The Bowen Center will be in the jail at least two times a week and expect to increase that because of demand.  Byers said, “We do have a significant waiting list of individuals who would be part of this programming.”  He said the program has been running in the jail for a while and has been very successful.

The commissioners approved the contract that calls for a fee of $100 per hour for group therapy services in the jail.  The agreement will be paid out of the Community Corrections grant funding.  Byers told the commissioners he has $40,000 budgeted to get the services started.
