2015-culver-winter-fest-polar-plungeLooking for a way to beat the winter blues, look no further and join Marshall County  in welcoming the 4th Culver Winter Festival in conjunction with the North American Ice Fishing Circuit (NAIFC).

Culver Winter Fest is a free event and visitors are invited to participate in sledding, ice skating, ice sculptures, and ice sculpture demonstrations.   Shop local downtown businesses, dine at tasty restaurants, and participate in the festive activities while enjoying winter in Culver.  Activities are held in downtown Culver and Culver Town Park, February 10-12, 2017.

NAIFC is providing a free Ice Camp for kids on February 11, 2017 from 11-1pm at the Culver Fire Station.  The Ice Camp is an opportunity to experience in-class and on-ice fishing tutorials delivered by experienced, DNR certified NAIFC Pro-Staff instructors. In addition to demonstration of the latest techniques and sponsor provided equipment, the curriculum promotes safety, conservation and environmental stewardship.  Although Ice Camp is geared toward kids, all family members are encouraged to attend regardless of age. Introduction to the newest technology coupled with professional guidance gives both the parent and child a memorable ice fishing experience using sponsor products.

Do you like the cold?  The Culver Beard Club, a philanthropic organization, is hosting its 4th Polar Plunge on Lake Maxinkuckee.   A Polar Plunge is a group of people or individuals that jump into a freezing cold water for fun.   If you brave enough to man the elements, the Polar Plunge will begin immediately following the weigh-in of the Ice Fishing Tournament, around 2pm on February 12, 2017 near the Culver Beach Lodge.

The NAIFC Culver Qualifying Tournament is open to the first 150 two- person teams that enter.  NAIFC tournaments operate much like a Bassmaster or FLW event.  Fishing boundaries are set: teams drill their own holes. Portable fish shelters are allowed with walking, ATVs and snowmobiles the modes of transportation. Tournament’s fishing hours are from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday February 12th and the species will be Bluegills and Perch.

NAIFC event is sponsored by Marshall County Tourism, for more information on NAIFC, Friday Night Seminar, Cabela’s Kids ICE CAMP, or to enter an NAIFC qualifier please go to www.naifc.com or email jack.baker@hotmail.com.  To enter a NAIFC qualifier over the phone please call Kathy Roberts at 320 252 0428.  For information on Culver Winter Festival and the Polar Plunge visit www.culverchamber.com or www.visitmarshallcounty.org at 574-936-1882.
