Friday afternoon Plymouth Police Detective Leo Mangus arrested a Plymouth man for a charge of Neglect of a Dependent after a young child left in his care was severely injured Thursday morning.

On Thursday morning, November 10th, Plymouth Police were dispatched along with Plymouth EMS to a residence in the 1300 block of Holloway Drive regarding an 18 month old infant that was injured and unresponsive.

 

The little girl was transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth and then transported by helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.  Emergency surgery was completed Thursday afternoon for the brain injuries received in the incident.

 

The person caring for the toddler was 24 year old Jamie L. Elsea of the 400 block of Charles Street in Plymouth.  Elsea was interviewed on Thursday and released pending further investigation.  The investigation at the hospitals revealed that a crime had occurred and on Friday afternoon Detective Mangus located Jamie Elsea and booked him into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of Neglect of a Dependent.  He is currently being held without bond.
