Work is well underway a Plymouth’ newest manufacturing plant.
On Thursday dozens of contractors and equipment manufacturers had the opportunity to visit Pretzels, Inc., the snack producer who recently purchased the Commerce Building at the corner of Pioneer and Commerce Drives.
Currently work in being completed on the underground utilities with plans to pour the 45,000 square foot concrete floor next week.
The snack producer is investing $18 million with the build-out and equipment with plans to begin production in March 2017.
Scott Smith, CEO said the Plymouth site didn’t make the first cut when they were looking to relocate because of the square footage. They were looking for a facility with at least 60,000 square feet. Traveling through the area they decided to stop and take a look at the building and were please with the 30 foot long length that would allow them an efficient layout for the operation and the opportunity to expand.
Pretzels, Inc. will be holding a Job Fair on December 1st and 2nd. They plan to hire 30 to 40 workers including bakers, packaging machine operators, maintenance workers, packagers and warehousing employees.
Smith said operations will ramp up quickly with hiring in January, start up and training to follow in February and shipping in March of next year.
Pretzels, Inc. is a family owned business with headquarters in Bluffton, IN. The company offers pretzels in over 900 varieties of store brands, private labels and its own Harvest Road products with the fastest growing product being the peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets that will be manufactured in Plymouth.
