drug+take-backThis past weekend the Marshall County Sheriff Department participated in the DEA Drug Take Back Program at Walgreens in Plymouth.  This program helps the community get rid of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

During the past 10 months the Marshall County Sheriff Department has collected 993pounds of discarded medications.

The Marshall County Sheriff Department has three drop locations for your unwanted drugs, the Marshall County Sheriff Department, Culver Police Department or the Bremen Police Department.  These bins are available for your access 24 hours a day.  All bins are located in the lobby of each department.

The initiative here addresses a vital public safety concern.  Medicines that lay in cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.  Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high.  Studies show that the majority of non discarded medicines left in cabinets lead to accidental overdoses and they come from family and friends.  Please do not dispose of your unused medicines by flushing them down the toilet or putting them in the trash.
