The Tibetan Lamas from the Drepung Loseling Monastery will visit the Culver Academies campus for a series of cultural events during the week of Aug. 29. The events will include a special public performance at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, as part of the Huffington Concert Series.
Tickets are now on sale at Culver Academies’ Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center Box Office or by contacting Marsha Coven via email or(574) 842-7058. Tickets will also be available at the Eppley Auditorium Box Office one hour before the performance.
On Monday, Aug. 29, the Lamas will begin work on a Sand Mandala in the lobby of Eppley Auditorium.
Additional enrichment opportunities are scheduled throughout the week. Tickets are required for Thursday evening’s performance. During the performance the Lamas will perform a sacred music/sacred dance on stage. All events will take place or begin in Eppley Auditorium. The following events are open to the public:

10 a.m. – 6 p.m. – Mandala sand painting and individual mandala coloring

10 a.m. – 6 p.m. – Mandala sand painting and individual mandala coloring
6:10 – 6:25 pm. – Meditation and Chanting
6:30 p.m. – Yoga with Rev. Sam Boys

8:30 a.m. – Lecture – The Symbolism of the Mandala
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Mandala sand painting and individual mandala coloring

The Lamas first came to Culver in 2004. During that visit, they deconstructed the Mandala on their final day and gave small portions of the sand to interested people. They then held a blessing ceremony on the banks of Lake Maxinkuckee.
