Triton Elementary School was awarded the Project Produce Grant through the Chef Ann Foundation for the 2016-17 school year.
Superintendent Donna Burroughs said, “Grant funds can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for all students to try. We will be using these funds for Lunchtime Adventures with Farrah Fruit and Reggie Veggie.”
Lunchtime Adventures will occur approximately twice each month on pizza Tuesday. As part of the Lunchtime Adventure, all students will receive a sampling of a fresh fruit or vegetable and will participate in a short survey.
To get students excited about trying a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, fun facts will be shared and all students that try the new fruit or vegetables will receive a sticker.
A grand prize will be awarded to the grade that samples the most fruits and vegetables throughout the school year.
