Here_Here

Here/Hear is a newer organization that aims to help the mentally ill and their loved ones in Marshall County.

Here/Here advocate for the mentally ill and work to counter the stigma associated with such illnesses. They have developed adaptable curriculum for churches and community organizations to implement peer-to-peer support groups and believe creativity helps the mentally ill while the arts are a source of hope and connection for the mentally ill.

In order to accomplish its mission, Here/Hear plans to hold a music and arts festival, called Hear Festival, on September 24, from 3-11pm at the Young Amphitheater. Four bands will play throughout the event: Earphorik, Joey Garcia and Pablo’s Great Revenge, Slow Orbit and The Angles. These bands all have extensive followings in Northern Indiana, while Earphorik is a national touring band.

They are also having an art fair. All visual artists are invited to submit their work for consideration in an art show. We have two local artists who have decided to donate pieces for an auction to benefit Here/Hear but they are looking for additional artist to participate.

In order to be part of the show you must submit high quality pictures of your work to nate@herehear.org. You may bring as many pieces as you want being mindful of space. The deadline for submitting pieces for consideration is August 26. It’s FREE to submit they only ask for 15% of your gross profits.

Chubby Buddies BBQ and the Sugar Shack Bakery will have food items for sale, but people can bring their own food and drink into the festival.

The cost for the music portion of the event is $20 for a regular ticket and $50 for a VIP. The art area of the festival is free and open to the public.
