During the second Board of Public Works and Safety meeting in July, City Attorney Sean Surrisi told members he hadn’t had any recent contact with Pioneer Railroad, the owner of the tracks that cross Harrison and Jefferson Streets.
During this week’s city meeting Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said the railroad had started to work on Harrison Street crossing Monday replacing the timbers. To complete the job in a faster manner the city put the asphalt back in place on Tuesday. The street should be open to traffic Wednesday morning.
Work on the Jefferson Street crossing has been scheduled after the Blueberry Festival by the railroad.
The city has been trying to work with the railroad on these two crossings since May of 2015.
