The Marshall County Museum has two events scheduled Friday, July 15, the next Brown Bag program and a book signing and sale of a publication that both showcase Indiana’s historic highways and byways.

 

Garner_KurtFirst, local architect and preservationist, Kurt Garner will present the Brown Bag program entitled, “The Indiana State Byways Bicentennial Passport Project,” from 12-1 highlighting a new 32-page passport booklet as a tool to explore Indiana historic byways and historic resources in the state.  The seven scenic byways highlighted in the passport booklet have stops that can be stamped as they are visited and tell the story of how Indiana was built around the transportation industry.  It’s a road trip that has been 200 years in the making!   The passport will be available for a donation of $2.00.

 

Honest EatsThe second event on July 15th is a meet the authors at 1 p.m. Authors Keith Eichert and Laura Weston-Eichert are promote their beautiful coffee table book, Honest Eats,” that celebrates the rich food history of Indiana’s historic Lincoln Highway.  Thirteen full-color pictures of Marshall County are included in this colorful photo book that takes you on a tour of landmarks along Indiana’s stretch of the Lincoln Highway.  Some recipes are included in the book that capture the flavor of the historic highway.  Visits to nearly 100 locations include vintage restaurants and other side stops that you might recognize along the way, with the entrepreneurs whose love of history and the highway helped fuel their passion for both food and nostalgia!  The cost of the book is $40. 

 

Both events are being held in the Marshall County Museum in downtown Plymouth.
