Ancilla Golf 2016

With 46 teams, 2016 was another record year for the 21st annual Ancilla College Golf Classic. The tournament, which followed a four-person Florida scramble format, raised more than $30,000 to support student financial aid.

A record number of teams played and more than three dozen sponsors pitched in to raise money for the growing college June 13 at Swan Lake Resort.

Ancilla Development and Alumni Relations Manager and event organizer Emily Hutsell said, “I am thrilled with the results and excited that Ancilla College was so well represented by our faculty, staff and students at the event. I heard over and over again what a great event it was and how neat to see our students and Ancilla staff and faculty on the course throughout the day!”

After playing 18 holes, guests were treated to a prime rib dinner and live auction at Swan Lake Resort. Former Ancilla College President Dr. Ron May and his son Matthew donated oysters for the dinner from Matthew’s Nandua Oyster Company.

The event was made extra special when Pete Peuquet of Chester, Inc., made a hole-in-one on a hole that won him two free tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S., a prize donated by Oliver Ford Lincoln.

One of the other unique features of the event was the Heavenly Putters/Poor Handmaid sisters who volunteered to finish holes for donors.

Winning teams were Lake City Bank of Plymouth in the silver course and Farm Fertilizers & Seeds on the black course.
