County News_logoThe Marshall County Commissioners suspended the rules on Monday and passed an ordinance to raise the Cumulative Capital Development rate back up to the maximum on second and third reading.

The commissioners have jurisdiction over the Cum Cap Development fund and during a public hearing earlier this month had no public comment on the proposed increase.

Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said increasing the rate from .169 to .333 will generate an estimated $400,000 annually. The current plan is to use the additional funds to purchase six new trucks for the county highway department.

The county will now publish notice of the adoption and taxpayers in the taxing district have 30 days to file a petition with the County Auditor objecting.  At least 50 taxpayers must sign in opposition to the rate increase.
