Walorski_Rochester FirefighterWASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Jackie Walorski (IN-02) announced this week’s honoree for her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. During a speech on the House floor Wednesday, Walorski congratulated David Lawson, a volunteer firefighter with the Rochester Fire Department, for saving a family from their burning home last month.

On the morning of January 19, Lawson was returning home after responding to an emergency call when he noticed smoke coming from a neighbor’s house. After contacting emergency responders, Lawson ran to the house and began knocking on the door. After waking the homeowners, Lawson helped remove the family members from the house safely. In honor of his heroism, Lawson received a commendation from Rochester Fire Chief Tom Butler.

Although he may say that it is simply just part of the job, David Lawson’s courage and resolve to protect the residents of northern Indiana is truly remarkable,” said Walorski. “As a volunteer firefighter, David selflessly puts his life on the line every day without expecting anything in return. On behalf of the people of Indiana’s Second Congressional District, I thank David and the brave men and women who represent Indiana’s entire first responder community for their collective service and commitment to protecting our loved ones.”

Walorski honored Lawson as part of her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. Each week, Walorski highlights notable Hoosiers, companies, and organizations that are making valuable contributions in the Second Congressional District.
