Plymouth Community SchoolsThe Plymouth School Board voted unanimously during their January 5, meeting to retain the same officers as 2015. Todd Samuelson will continue as Board president.  Larry Holloway accepted the nomination to stay in the vice-president position. Melissa Christensen will stay as secretary.

Samuelson was re-appointed as Legislative Liaison. Christiansen and Jenny  Sickmiller will serve on the Strategic Plan Committee.

Samuelson and Christiansen were re-elected as President and Secretary respectively on the Board of Finance.

The Board voted 5-0 to accept a bid from McCarthy & Smith, Inc. for the grandstand construction at Plymouth High School. The bid for the project totals $712,425.00. The estimated budget had been set at $750,000.00.

The home grandstand bid was $522,000 and the press box construction was $143,000. Alternates consisted of heating and cooling unit at $ 9,125; bleacher jersey, $29,550; and riser board façade at $ 8,750.

PCSC Director of Facilities, Dave Schoof told the Board that there was only one bid; however it did meet bidding requirements. Schoof went on to say the materials are still currently low, this is a favorable time to bid for August, 2016 completion, and they are able to avert a 6-8 percent management cost.

Schoof did offer the board a comparison cost from a project at Plymouth-Canton, Michigan.  Schoof said their low bid was $725,525 and their high bid was $932,691.

Roger Cronkright, RESSCo Sports, LLc was at the meeting. The company is representing Southern Bleacher Company, Inc.

Cronkright said, “The timing is great. These are the lowest numbers I’ve seen in 15 years.” He indicated that the bleachers should serve the district for 35-40 years.
