Krysti LaVanwayMarshall Superior Court Judge Robert Bowen sentenced Kristy LaVanway to 35 year in prison for her guilty plea to a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Judge Bowne said the aggravated factors out weighted the mitigating factors which allowed him to enhance the sentence.

During the sentencing hearing on Wednesday the State, represented by Deputy Prosecuting attorney Tami Napier had Detective Leo Mangus on the stand.  He testified to the events of the day 2 year old Serenity Wilson was allegedly battered by LaVanway’s boyfriend Shane Weedling in the Economy Inn.

Also testifying on the state’s behalf was Serenity’s father Cody Wilson and her aunt Renee Burns.

Defense Attorney Jeff Houin called Stephen Harner from the Probation department and Krysti LaVanway also testified on her own behalf.

At the conclusion Judge Bowen sentenced her to 35 year with nothing suspended and a $1 fine plus costs.
