For the last seven years, this has been the event of the year! The evening begins with appetizers and a delicious buffet dinner. There will be a short presentation about the Neighborhood Center and the programs that will benefit from this year’s fundraiser. Following dinner, the dance competition begins.
This year, proceeds will benefit primary programs at the Neighborhood Center including the Food Pantry. The pantry serves nearly 400 households each month. Many who rely on the food pantry face other challenges with their health, housing, and general well-being. The center strives to meet a variety of those needs with a healthy assortment of groceries. Donations will provide consistent, nutritious food selections to those who struggle to make ends meet.
Another program that will benefit from Dancing With the Stars is the Household Development program. The Neighborhood Center believes in giving a hand-up to those in need. The center offers personal budgeting support, comprehensive community referrals, and employability through structured, on-site volunteerism.
Finally, the Seasonal Programming will be a beneficiary. In addition to the center’s year-round efforts, they see an increased need for help throughout the winter months. This time of year brings bigger utility bills, seasonal lay-offs, additional childcare costs during school breaks, and a heavy expectations to provide gifts for the holidays.
During this special time of year, the Neighborhood Center helps families by providing extra groceries for holiday meals, new gifts of clothes and toys for children, assistance toward heating bills, and free tax preparation.
Tickets for Dancing With The Stars are $75 each and can be purchased online at http://www.events.org/neighborhoodcenter or through the Neighborhood Center at 402 West Garro Street in Plymouth.
WTCA will highlight the stars participating in the 2016 Dancing With the Stars each week.
