DriveSoberOrGetPulledOverThe Marshall County DUI Task Force, a consortium of law enforcement agencies in the county are working to decrease impaired driving with the overall goal of making Marshall County roadways safer.

Impaired driving is one of our nation’s most frequently committed violent crimes.  Just in Indiana in 2012 there were 6,264 alcohol-related crashes resulting in 158 fatal crashes.

To combat this crime the Marshall County DUI Task Force will be setting up sobriety checkpoints around Marshall County to aggressively deter, detect and arrest those drivers who make the decision to drive impaired. Sobriety checkpoints in central Marshall County will be conducted during the night on Friday, July 31st.

Officers working the sobriety checkpoints are working overtime which is paid by grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the Indiana Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving (ICJI).
