Donnelly_IN Adgent GeneralWashington, D.C. – Tuesday, U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly and Congresswoman Jackie Walorski had the opportunity to meet with Major General Courtney P. Carr, the new Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard. Donnelly, Walorski and Carr discussed a range of issues, including the importance of the Indiana National Guard to our state and country, as well as the Fort Wayne 122nd Fighter Wing’s recent deployment in conducting targeted airstrikes against ISIS.

Donnelly, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said, “Today, I had a great meeting with our new Adjutant General. Hoosiers have a long and proud tradition of serving our country, and I look forward to working with Major General Carr as he leads our Indiana National Guard.”

Carr today.”   “With his tremendous record of service to our nation and I am convinced that he is the right leader to guide our Hoosier National Guard force through a period of sustained conflict. I am counting on him to make that happen and I look forward to continuing our work together.”

Indiana is home to the fourth-largest National Guard contingent in the nation with combined force numbers of approximately 14,160. The Indiana National Guard is a joint-force organization with 65 Army National Guard installations around the state. There are two Air Wings: the 181st Intelligence Wing based in Terre Haute, and the 122nd Fighter Wing based in Fort Wayne. Additionally, the Indiana National Guard has facilities at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center and Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.

Donnelly is Ranking Member on the Strategic Forces Subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee and recently returned from travel to Iraq, South Korea, and China, where he met with Hoosier servicemembers, U.S. military leaders, and government officials.
