PrintThis week, Plymouth High School joins thousands of schools throughout the United States, Canada, and around the world to celebrate National Student Leadership Week. The theme for the April 19-25, event is “The Power of One!”

PHS_National Leadership WK_NatHonorSociety2015Presented by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and its four student programs, the National Association of Student Councils (NASC), the National Honor Society (NHS), the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), and the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS), National Student Leadership Week is celebrated each April to highlight and encourage student leadership and service in the nation’s schools. In conjunction with the theme, student leaders at Plymouth High School have planned special activities to showcase the many ways involvement as student leaders helps prepare young people for their roles in life.

In an email to all Plymouth High School staff, Aimee Portteus, the Director of Guidance said, “This is a great way for us to encourage our kids to step up, step out, and make a difference. The Power of One, will challenge every one of us and our students to consider how much of a difference one can make in driving positive change – one student, one chapter, one council, one team, one teacher, one community.”

PHS_National Leadership WK_NatHonorSociety2015_1Each day Portteus will be sending to PHS staff some photos highlighting various student leaders at Plymouth High. She will also be sending a leadership quote. Portteus who is one of many who is spearheading the activities is asking, that if at all possible, staff incorporate the quote into their classroom work for that day.
