MCEDC_buildingEntry level housing is needed in Marshall County as discussed by community leaders at the quarterly “County Development for the Future” roundtables.  This need was also revealed through the Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR) program, where businesses such as Elkay Manufacturing in Culver have stated that local housing options are limited and costs are high.

An Entry-Level Housing Workshop will be held Tuesday at the Culver Public Library at 9:00 am.  Darin Edwards with the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority will be on hand to help communities understand the various state level housing programs, such as homebuyer and renter assistance, and available funding.  Representatives from several of our cities and towns are expected to be in attendance.

As the economy continues to rebound and local businesses expand, the need for all types of entry-level housing, including single-family residential and apartments, is expected to increase.  Solutions for entry level housing also allows us to attract residents and address population stagnation which is a primary goal of the Regional Cities Initiative as discussed over the last month when over 50 individuals met in Marshall County.
