At 4:51 Wednesday afternoon the Plymouth Fire Department responded to a field fire on Muckshaw Road between Oakhill Avenue and the railroad tracks.
As fire crews arrived on the scene they found a blazing field fire on the east side of the roadway and a smaller fire next to the railroad tracks in a small wooded area on the west side of Muckshaw Road.
Two grass fire rigs battled the blaze from both the north and south and an additional fire truck went into the back of Oak Hill Cemetery to keep the fire from spreading into the woods between the field and cemetery.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within twenty minutes and were on scene for less than an hour making sure all the hot spots were out.
It was noted that the windy conditions helped the blaze spread across the dry growth in the field very quickly.
The Plymouth Fire Department urges everyone to be extremely cautious if burning because vegetation is very dry.
