MugShot_Curtis BranscomHusband and wife, 27 year old Curtis Branscom and 24 year old Bethany Branscom of the Economy Motel in Plymouth were arrested Sunday morning in connection to the robbery of the Speedway Gas Station on North Michigan Street.

On Sunday the pair entered the gas station about 3:40 and robbed the employee of an undisclosed amount of and cigarettes.  During the robbery a weapon was not displayed.

Plymouth Detective Leo Mangus had observed Curtis Branscom outside his room at the Economy Inn about 10:30, recognizing him from the surveillance video.  Curtis was attempting to shave his beard off when he was located in the bathroom in the motel room.  He was apprehended without incident and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked in on tentative charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of a legend drug.  He was held on no bond.  Curtis also had two outstanding warrants for $4,000 & $5,000.

MugShot_Bethany Branscom24 year old Bethany Branscom was also located in the motel room and had been videoed at the Speedway Gas Station during the crime.  She was booked into the county jail for robbery, theft and held on no bond.

Their initial hearings are scheduled for March 10th in Marshall Superior Court I.

Detective Mangus said some of the cash was recovered although most of it had been used to purchase heroin in South Bend immediately following the robbery.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.
