Aimee Portteus, Director of Guidance at Plymouth High School, has been battling stage II breast cancer since last July. On Thursday February 19, 2015 was Aimee’s last scheduled chemotherapy treatment.
Students and staff at Plymouth High School wanted to let her know they stand behind her and are offering their continued support. For the past week students have been busy taking pictures and video clips of the Plymouth Community School Corporation staff and students as they hold up encouraging messages to Aimee! The song chosen for the video is Stronger, by Kelly Clarkson. Thursday morning a group of Aimee’s close colleagues and friends accompanied her to the medical center where she undergoes treatment. Kelsey Flynn, the Communications Director of the Weidner School of Inquiry unveiled the video to Amiee on a computer as her last chemo treatment was administered.
Aimee said she is extremely grateful for the encouraging video gift from her colleagues and the PHS students. She would like to say thank you to everyone for the words of encouragement and continued support.
“As I sit in my big comfy lounge chair recovering from my LAST CHEMO TREATMENT, I am watching an absolutely amazing video of love and support. I cannot put into words how much each of you mean to me and how the PHS Family helped give me the courage to walk through this! Thank You,” Aimee said in an email to staff.
