OWI_1On Tuesday, January 7th at approximately 4:52 P.M. the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a single vehicle accident in the area of Olive Trail south of Dixon Lake Trail. Marshall County Sheriff’s Officer Les McFarland responded to the area and located a pickup truck with a snowplow on it that had left the roadway and rolled over onto its side. During the course of the investigation it was believed that the driver, 45 year old Robert Busam of Plymouth was intoxicated.

Busam was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a chemical test and was arrested for operating while intoxicated and was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was held on a $1,505 cash bond.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
