County News_logoLast week the Marshall County Commissioner approved the request of City Attorney Sean Surrisi for access to the county’s GIS data in preparation for the construction of the second phase of the Greenway Trail project.

Surissi explained that the second phase of the project will connect Founders Park, behind the Coffee Lodge to River Park Square behind the Boys and Girls Club.

The County Attorney will develop an interlocal agreement that stipulates data will only be used for the project by designer SEH and not for any commercial purpose.  With the approval of the interlocal agreement the city will be able to have the required data at no cost.

In other business the commissioners discussed the vacancy on the Tippecanoe Township Advisory Board.

In the November 2014 General Election only two candidates were on the ballot to fill three seats.  This resulted in a vacancy on the board.  Under Indiana code, the commissioners must appoint one of the incumbents to serve for another term.  If the appointee does not want to serve, he can resign and the party that originally elected him would then hold a caucus to secure a replacement.

The commissioners appointed Curt Livengood to fill the vacancy on the Tippecanoe Township Advisory Board.
