County News_logoEarlier this month, County Building Inspector Chuck DeWitt presented his third quarter report to the Marshall County Commissioners.

The monthly statistical report for July showed a total of 45 permits issued with an estimated value of $2.9 million. There were a total of 163 inspections completed in July with DeWitt noting, “It was a pretty busy month.”

The August report had a total of 35 building permits issued with an estimated construction value of more than $1.5 million. There were also 183 inspection completed in August.

The September County Building report had a total of 52 permits issued with an estimated value of $2.4 million and 146 inspections.

The year to date stats for building permits issued is 326 bringing the yearly values of construction in Marshall County to $32 million. DeWitt said, “I’ve been busy and on track to see 420 to 440 permits issued for the year which is an exceptional year.”

Looking at a comparison for the last three years shows permits on the rise and estimated values substantially increased. DeWitt noted an increase in accessory structures, values of home additions and conventional home starts with 9 in 2012, 6 in 2013, and to date 17 for 2014
