4-H EnrollmentTo many people, 4-H means the fair in July. However, 4-H goes much deeper than just seven days during the summer. 4-H members work hard all year round doing community service, going to club meetings, and practicing for the projects they sign up for. Each of the 800 4-H members in Marshall County started by simply signing up for 4-H. This year, the sign-up for 4-H looks a bit different than it has in the past. The new enrollment period for Marshall County will start November 1, 2014 and run until January 15, 2015. This is a much earlier timeline than has been followed in the past. This new enrollment period is state-wide as all counties implement a new system for recording 4-H accomplishments.

Across Indiana, 4-H programs will be utilizing a new online database called 4HOnline to enroll members. According to its website, “4HOnline is a fully integrated management system that brings together all levels of the 4-H experience. Whether it’s a member logging in to manage his/her record, a club leader printing mailing labels, or a county agent approving a member’s enrollment, 4HOnline brings the 4-H community together and keeps everyone involved.”

What 4HOnline means for Marshall County 4-H is quicker communication between club leaders and members, faster access to the monthly Clover Chatter newsletter, and easier access for parents and 4-H members to sign-up for projects and trips.

To kick-off the new 4-H enrollment period, Marshall County 4-H will be hosting a Project Fair on November 1st from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the Marshall County Life Enrichment Center/Council on Aging (1305 W. Harrison St., Plymouth, IN 46563). Projects will be on display for youth to explore such as glass etching, cross stitching, shooting sports, Legos, and much more! Other activities include door prizes and a project scavenger hunt. Feel free to stop in any time to view the projects or to sign up online! Leaders will be available for questions and to help you explore your future with 4-H.
