City NEwsMonday night the Plymouth Common Council approved an additional resolution in the amount of $292,193.00 for Freedom Park.

Tony Gamble, one of the founders of the Freedom Park committee explained the relocation of the all inclusive playground from Centennial Park to Packard Woods. It was noted that the park is a low traffic area with lots of shade and accessible handicap parking.
Gamble explained them being awarded, a $95,000 grant from Game Time although it was noted that the grant required a 100% match to be paid for by October 31st with delivery of the playground equipment in January of 2015.

In July strong storms came through the city and a large tree in Packard Woods feel on the playground equipment doing extensive damage. The city received a settlement from the insurance company. With those funds and additional funds from the city a total of $292,193 will be placed in a new fund titled “Freedom Park Fund” and the reality of an all-inclusive park will become a reality next spring.

Gamble noted that this will create the first phase of Freedom Park but he still plans to keep fundraising for the next phase of the playground where everyone can have fun together without others limitations.
