Plymouth Fire and Police responded to a fire alarm at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center on Lake Avenue in Plymouth Tuesday afternoon just before 3. The call was for the smell of smoke in the lab area of the main hospital.
Hospital maintenance located the source of the smoke just as firefighters arrived at the facility. A stand alone piece of equipment in the lab had an internal malfunction causing the smoke in the lab. Once it was unplugged the smoke stopped.
Plymouth fire was only on the scene for a short time before being releases.
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth thanked the Plymouth Fire Department for the quick response to the event.
