City NEwsMonday evening the Plymouth Common Council heard on first reading an amendment to the Code of Ordinances concerning the Aviation Rotary Fund.
The intent of the amendment is to increase the amount of the initial transfer to the fund from $12,000 to $40,000. Money in the Aviation Rotary Fund is used to purchase fuel and lubricants for sale to the public at the Plymouth Municipal Airport.
When established in 1998 the $12,000 was able to cover the costs but rising fuel costs over the last 16 years has proven that amount to be inadequate to maintain funding for the airport’s ongoing fuel purchases throughout the year.
The City Council is expected to pass the amendment on second and third reading at their next meeting on September 8th.
The Council also approved a resolution to transfer $35,000 from the health insurance line item under personal services to street materials under supplies in the Motor Vehicle Highway fund.
