Members of the Marshall County Drainage Board approved change order number 1 for the Marburger Drain at Dogwood Road. County Surveyor Larry Fisher said they are in the wrap-up stages of the project but needed to add several bi-lateral taps and incidentals.
Fisher presented a request of Roy Mangus to plant trees within 8 feet of the top of the ditch bank on a 38 acre parcel of ground on the Elmer Seltenright Ditch. Fisher said he would allow them up to 50 feet but anything closer encroaches in the ability to maintain the ditch. The request wasn’t official but Fisher wanted to know the feelings of the board prior to the formal request.
In other drainage business Fisher presented a summary of summer ditch spraying. He also said he has spent $24,000 of the Yellow River Maintenance Fund from the recent storm damage just through the Centennial Park area alone. He said, “It was a real mess.”
The Yellow River Maintenance Fund had a balance of $456,453 after the spring disbursement. The recent storm damage work has not been subtracted from the fund yet.
