The Marshall County Museum and the Weidner School of Inquiry are collaborating on a project that focuses on the war experiences of local WWII veterans. The students are looking for local WWII veterans to interview about their personal WWII stories. The interviews will be captured on video and the finished product will be presented to the museum to be used as part of a permanent exhibit enhancing the artifacts and memorabilia that are already part of a museum collection in the Military Room.
The addition of the video footage will make the exhibit come to life with “real stories” about “real people” from our community. This endeavor will not only educate the local high school students that will be working on the project. Patrons of the museum will be enlightened by seeing and hearing about how lives were forever changed and impacted.
With the 70th anniversary of both D-Day and VJ-Day, the need to encapsulate this time period seems even more critical, as many veterans from that war are no longer with us.
