solve-a-mysteryThe Heminger House Women and Children’s Shelter needs the public’s help to solve a mystery.

Last month two of the Heminger House Board of Director members received an anonymous letter in the mail. The letter was a copy of a letter that was addressed to the director of the Heminger House. The writer of the letter stated that a family member’s estate had just been settled and the writer had just received a substantial amount of money. He or she went on to say that they had always supported fundraisers that the Heminger House had put on but had always wanted to be able to make a substantial contribution. The writer went on to say “please find enclosed a cashier’s check with my contribution”.

The amount stated in the letter was VERY generous. The original letter with the cashier’s check has never made it to the Heminger House. There is not a return address on the envelope so there is no way to find out where the donation came from or who to contact.

The writer eludes to the fact that they follow the Heminger House via the local media reports. The Heminger House is in critical need of this donation. If you are the anonymous donor, please know that we have not received your donation. We appreciate you thinking of the Heminger House and we are very grateful. But we just need to find the letter with the cashier’s check.

If you have information that could help the Heming House board of directors solve this mystery please contact the Shelter at 936-SAFE.
