Heartland Artists Gallery welcomes the Lake Shore Gouders. These amazing artists take a simple gourd and turn into a work of art that will amaze. The Lakeshore Gourders Patch is a member of the Indiana Gourd Society. They meet once a month usually around the Valpo area and have about 15 to 20 members. As are so many artists – they and their art is very diversified as each uses a different technique to shape and finish their gourds.
Members of this group include the award-winning, Ron Pressel for his wood burning and Sherry Benedict who does beautiful work with clay on her gourds that definitely take on personality. Sherry Benedict is a member of Heartland Artists Gallery and is well respected amongst Heartland patrons. Kathy Voyles brings her unique birdhouses and cut out gourds. There are several others participating in the August Show at Heartland Artists Gallery in Plymouth. Come and see the beauty of gourds, not just birdhouses.
This group stays involved and creative by completing a different project each month with a different member teaching the technique.
The member of the month, Jayne Jacobson is showing her work in enameling. This medium achieves more brilliance and depth of color than any other medium. She also fuses glass to metal, copper being her favorite. Jayne is also creative in making dichroic jewelry. Creatively unique like you have not seen before.
This colorful and dimensional Gourder’s Show at Heartland runs until Saturday, August 23rd. Gallery Hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10-4. Heartland Artists Gallery is located at 103 West LaPorte Street in downtown Plymouth.
