The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency in partnership with Walgreen’s, and the Marshall County Amateur Radio Club, will be hosting a second NOAA Weather/All Hazards Alert Radio Programming Day for this year.

The event will be held this Saturday, May 31st from 9:00am until 1:00pm at Walgreen’s Drug Store located at 2014 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth.

These radios will alert you to dangerous weather situations so that you can take the necessary actions to protect you and your family.

In addition to receiving weather warning information from the National Weather Service Forecast Offices, the NOAA Weather/All Hazard Alert Radios are also capable of receiving other types of warning information approved by the Department of Homeland Security, as well as messages from local and state Emergency Operations Centers that have been specifically authorized to disseminate warnings on the National Weather Radio operational frequencies.

NOAA Weather/All Hazard Alert Radio is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the National Weather Service office in Northern Indiana. The National Weather Service broadcasts official Weather Service warnings, watches, forecasts and other hazard information2 hours a day, 7 days a week. Specific Area Message Encoding Technology (S.A.M.E.) allows the radio to be programmed to filter National Weather Service broadcasts of warnings and emergency alerts for a selected geographic area.

You may purchase a NOAA radio at our local Walgreen’s store, or bring one that you already own in to be programmed. There is NO charge for this service.
