05/28/14  On Wednesday, May 21st  at 4:00 P.M. Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Les McFarland initiated a traffic stop on 30 year old Anthony Olsen of Antioch, Illinois for speeding at U.S. 30 and Iris Road.  During the traffic stop Deputy McFarland searched the vehicle and located what was believed to be a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.  Anthony Olsen was given a court date and a case report will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review and formal charges being filed.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.  They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
